The first week was filled with just house hunting and running around the hospital trying to get things signed off. The check in process is extremely long and complicated in the Navy, it will take you weeks. Mostly it is just running around getting things signed, going to appointments, and getting lost at your new command. But everything is on there for a reason so just enjoy the little break from work and responsibilities and try not to get frustrated.
This past weekend I went to Tokyo and it was a blast! We went to see a baseball game which was an experience, much different than in the states! The crowd is so in sync and each player has their own theme song which the crowd sings and chants and its awesome. They also have delicious food at the game and these funny little keg girls that literally carry kegs on their back and go around serving beer throughout the stands. I kept thinking I don't know how they do it because the kegs are pretty big and the girls are so small but they must be in awesome shape! I am going to take another trip to Tokyo this weekend on an MWR trip, which I'm really excited about! :)
This week is filled with AOB (area orientation brief), I think that only overseas commands do this. But it is a week filled with orientation on my new home; customs, traditions, language, driving and driving test, etc. There is a lot of information but they take us to Kamakura later in the week and we get to see the Buddha so I can't wait for that! I am loving Japan so far and I can't wait to move into my new place, the Navy Lodge is getting old and I just want all my things! More to come! :)
