Looking at these pictures is so bittersweet now. I am extremely happy to be done with nursing school but I will truly miss these people every day! We went through some of the most difficult times together and they will be my lifelong friends. We never said goodbye because it's only see you later. I will be visiting San Diego and a few other places around the country to catch up with these amazing people. :) All the current nursing students out there know how important it is to have a solid foundation of friends and I was so lucky to find that from the start.
Anyways this post it getting out of control! There is just a lot to update! As I said I finally made it back to Colorado after being stranded in Las Vegas, NM for a day and a half due to a really bad winter storm. They closed the highway so we weren't able to drive home for almost two days! Oh well I got to spend some quality time with my Dad. :) So as I settle in here I have been preparing for my NCLEX and trying to figure out exactly how and when my commissioning is going to happen. I did get a call from a recruiter who was very excited because he thought I would be commissioning within the next month but he forgot about my hip surgery. Kinda puts a major dent in things but we are currently in the process of figuring it all out. I think my commissioning documents will just have to be resubmitted and the medical board has to physically approve me which could take some time knowing the Navy. But it will all happen soon enough. I saw my doctor before I left San Diego and she extended my hold on running to four months and said I will take the full 6 months to heal and be physically cleared. That's a real bummer but I am trying to look at it in a positive way, I need to completely heal and make sure that I am 100% so I can be the best Navy nurse that I can be. So looks like real Navy experience won't be until March or April :-/ Sorry guys! I know a lot of you want to know what life is like as a nurse in the Navy but I will let you know soon enough!
Back to NCLEX studying and good luck to all applicants! I hope you guys hear soon if you haven't already! Best wishes!
