After talking for awhile and having them answer some of my questions, they made an announcement and gathered all the staff in the office to watch. He began by introducing me and saying a little bit about me and my background and told everyone I was going into the Navy Nurse Corps. Then I had to stand at attention, raise my right hand, and recite the oath of office. I was really nervous about this part because I had a little trouble with it when I was enlisted but it was no problem this time! I realized the officer actually had the more difficult job because he had to recite it from memory! But he did a great job and it went on without a snag. After I was finished he congratulated me and then all the staff watching congratulated me, I think I shook hands with at least 10 people! It was really nice and it made me feel extremely proud.
Once the ceremony was over I took care of a few travel documents and I am STILL waiting on orders which is very annoying but they should come within the next couple of days. Once I have orders I can schedule my move and make a trip out to San Diego to move all my stuff. I also have to have an overseas screening done for Yokosuka but I'm not sure if I will get that done before I go for ODS or after. There are still a lot of things to figure out before I leave next month so I will be really busy!
I have to say today was one of the proudest days of my life, I really didn't expect to feel this way but I am so excited to start this journey! And extremely proud to say I am officially an Ensign of the United States Navy and member of the Navy Nurse Corps! :)
