Just a quick update but the biggest event in my life right now is trying to decide my next duty station, can't believe I am already at this place! I was given pretty much only east coast options by my detailer and while that is very disappointing and has been hard for me to accept I have been coming to terms with it. I am trying to decide between Portsmouth, VA or Camp Lejeune, NC. I think I am leaning more towards Camp Lejeune right now but I am still hoping something will open up on the west coast. It's disappointing that I don't have a choice of coasts after an overseas tour because I would like to be close to my family in Colorado after such a long time away from them. I was told I would have a choice but that is a common trend in the Navy; told one thing but it usually ends up to be incorrect or untrue. However I am trying to stay positive and make the best decision for my life.
I love the Navy and I am proud to serve but I will have to see how another command is because my experience in Yokosuka has been very challenging in a lot of ways. It has taught me a lot but at times it makes me want to leave the military as well. Which is always a question you have to ask yourself when the time comes. I still have over 2 years left on my contact and so much can change in that time, so for the time being I am trying to enjoy life overseas and learn as much as my hospital will let me. I love Japan and I really do not want to leave this country but the command has tested me. I would love to stay in Japan but I don't know if I could stay at this command. However that is beside the point!
These past two months have been filled with activities and lots of work! We are vamping up for our inspection by joint commission and it has been little overwhelming at times. I am nervous, this will be my first one! I am glad I'm on nights so hopefully I won't get drilled! As for traveling I haven't been anywhere new lately but I have a couple of days off coming up and I think I will visit either southern Japan or the opposite side and go up north to Hokkaido. We will see!
I also may be going back to the states for training next month in San Antonio and I may be able to make a quick stop at home to see my family which would be sooo amazing! Fingers crossed it actually goes through! Then in October my family is supposed to come here for a visit which I cannot wait for! Then November I will be visiting India which will be an experience! So much coming up! :)
Hope everyone's applications are going well and I hope everyone receives good news come November!!!
